Website Color Considerations
Color is an important consideration for almost any company, or website in general. Color can speak volumes of information, or just serve to keep some users on your website longer. While the normal consideration should be if it is user friendly, you should also take into consideration if it is working for you.
The Basics Of Website Colors:
- A website needs to have color choices that don’t clash, and are easy on the eyes.
- The safest choice is white.
Artists and writers who are looking to showcase their work need to pay a bit more attention to the color choices of their website. Below are the unique problems faced by both.
No matter if you have a static page or a dynamic page- simple and easy on the eyes is (or, should be) the main focus. While there are exceptions to the rule- normally a minimalist overall theme works the best.
- Having a white background with black or gray fonts will draw the attention to your writing.
- You can play more with the font color, just make absolutely sure that it is easy to read.
- Consider your general theme. If you are more prone to writing in a certain style, consider color’s role in those same themes. A quick read is the Wikipedia page on Color and Emotion.
While artists generally have a lot more leeway with color, writers don’t (at least, as much).
There are so many websites out there with bad color choices that are supposed to showcase someone’s writing- unfortunately visitors won’t stay long enough to appreciate it.
You can use color to draw the eyes to important areas of your website by using colored borders around the content, font colors, or even specific background coloring.
