How do you know if your logo sucks?

Ask yourself a few things:

  1. Is it easy to reproduce?
  2. Is it on all promotional materials?
  3. Is it memorable, or is it a dime a dozen?

 

If you answered ‘no’ to any of the above, your logo more than likely sucks (or, in the case of the second- it’s not working hard at all, you are in possession of a lazy logo).

1.) If your logo isn’t easy to reproduce, it may be too complicated.  While an easy logo also gives the benefit for being more consumer friendly and easier on the eyes.  A good way to figure it out it having someone try and sketch it, if they find the task almost impossible- you may have a far too complicated logo.

2.) Make your logo work.  While this is basic branding, it also gives a more professional feel to anything from business cards to letterheads. 

3.) If you used a logo from one of those stock places, stop.  More than likely there are thousands of people out there using the same exact thing.  While having a pro design your logo can run into some serious expense, it’s worth it.
